Borderline, A Classic Dance Tune From Madonna

February 26th, 2009
Martin Sejas asked:

Any collection of the all time classic songs cannot be complete without featuring the world’s most successful female recording artist, Madonna. Yes, that’s right, according to Guinness World Records, there is no other female singer in history that tops her in terms of records sold. Many people have even named her the “Queen of Pop” but she has also received her critics for the quality of her songs.

I can perfectly understand why her songs are criticised, however, it must be remembered that if an entertainer has had so much success in a career lasting more than 25 years, then her music must have something that stirs the imagination and enthusiasm of so many music lovers. This is what makes her a legendary singer, whose greatness was officially recognised by her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Borderline” is one of her first major successes that launched her to super stardom.

Lyrics-wise, the song expresses the singer’s frustration with their partner’s antics. The singer is madly in love with her partner, however, she feels that her love is being taken for granted judging by his actions. This is why the singer keeps repeating that he is pushing her love over the borderline, driving her crazy because she does not quite know why her partner is acting in a certain manner with her. This is a story and sentiment that many people can relate to, which is a reason for the song’s success.

The music video (not shown above) was the first Madonna video to be highly circulated on MTV, which contributed to her stardom. Madonna has always been known for her innovative and often controversial videos, nevertheless, she is known as a pioneer in the field of music videos, and she has been able to influence today’s generation of artists and their videos.

“Borderline” became Madonna’s second top 10 hit in the US as well as peaking at number 2 in the UK. It probably would have peaked in a higher position if Madonna had been a well-known and established singer at the time of its release. Nevertheless, it gave the world a small glimpse of the potential of this singer from Michigan who would become the most successful female recording artist in music history.

Some facts: Madonna has had 12 number 1 hits in the US and has sold more than 200 million records, both albums and singles over 25 years. In 2008, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Butt Cellulite Reduction - Another Cheek In The Cellulite Removal Hall Of Fame

February 22nd, 2009
Sandis Jackson asked:

Among cellulite removal procedures, **** cellulite treatment is found to be more effective performance-wise in cellulite reduction with the advent of high tech ultra sound, radio frequency and laser body fat treatment. Such sophisticated cellulite removal procedure is embraced by both the men and women. The cellulite reduction treatment is actually based on light energy.

That form of cellulite removal procedures was seen by many to be of relief of unstoppable body fat deposits, with unmistakable **** cellulite dimpling and evenness that keep one from enjoying surfing and swimming off the beach.

Cellulite reduction is revolutionized with this technology that was once used as a non invasive body exam. That is ultrasound, a diagnostic tool transformed into a cellulite removal procedure. Such cellulite reduction technique is seen by majority of women cellulite build-up in there thigh and **** as well as men as a cellulite therapy worthy of probing. Results of this cellulite removal procedure with multiple treatments show satisfactory results. One can see for themselves, **** cellulite diminished and there smooth skin is restored. With such cellulite reduction, one would really lose inches. The cellulite reduction technique is based on carefully focused light below the skin surface concept which let fats cells heat up just until the cellular membrane breaks.

Another cellulite removal procedure using radio frequency is also seen effective in **** cellulite reduction. The same with ultrasound cellulite removal procedure, this is also non-invasive. Elimination of but cellulite is made possible with non-surgical radio frequency. This cellulite removal procedure includes post-operative compression garments and with little pre-operative requirements.

This cellulite removal procedure works by heating your **** fat cells including culprit cellulite dimple-makers. This process is done in 5 degrees temperature. the cellulite removal procedure would cause the sub dermal metabolism supporting blood vessels, a lymphatic action for pushing fat around and collagen formation to be stimulated several level above normal. The action caused by this cellulite removal procedure would cause your cellulite cells to give-up. This is indeed a favorable cellulite reduction if not removal. With this cellulite removal procedure, you would be thankful for a smoother skin and improved female body shape with cellulite reduction in thigh and **** areas.

Another cellulite removal procedure that features non-surgical benefits with low impact is with the use of laser. This cellulite removal procedure would directly assist one in achieving the body shape free of unwanted cellulites.

Laser’s energy as used in this cellulite removal procedure is carefully modulated directly into the body fat regions lying below the skin. This is an improved nature of laser which actually promotes skin tightening but the **** cellulite reduction is not entirely clear out. Thanks to science, laser’s energy in this cellulite removal procedure was taken into the next level.

Cellulite removal procedures using the laser then causes your **** cellulite fat cells absorb energy until the cell membrane denatures. The key to this cellulite removal procedure is that there is removal of some measurable amount of build-up fat plus the more fibrous dimple-marker cellulite.

February 3rd, 2009
RyanThomas asked:

Eleven new members are going to be inducted and welcomed by the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame. And such an event is going to be a grand one and a great deal especially to the upcoming new ones.

The whole ceremony is especially prepared for. The Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing would host the mentioned event. It comes to life on the 15th of March and would be held at the Paramount Plaza Resort which is located in Gainesville, Florida.

Other companies are also willing to help out and be part of the induction ceremonies of the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame. It has been reported that Mopar Performance Parts, a good source of the best auto parts like the Nissan mud flap, would be sponsoring the activity. But it is not a surprise for Mopar has been joining in the fun for 16 years already.

The eleven new members can be said to be all experts in the drag racing field. These eleven honorees are Kenny Bernstein (a six time drag racing champion), Frank Bradley (another winner of these drag racing competition), Donnie Hampton (a drag racing champion), Ted Jones (owner of a drag racing strip), Jim McLennan (a drag car driver as well as owner of a drag racing strip), Dale Pulde (a drag racing driver who holds the title having the most number of wins in the IHRA history), Don Schumacher (a member of Team Mopar), Dave Uyehara (a builder of championship dragsters), Dave Zeuschel (a builder of legendary dragsters), Darrel Zimmerman (a director of one of NHRA’s divisions), and Bill Bader (an owner of a drag racing facility as well as a promoter of the sport). The latter would also be receiving the Founders Award for his exemplary contributions to drag racing.

The whole induction ceremonies would not only focus on the welcoming of the new members but the event would also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 392 Hemi engine. See, this engine is one of the best innovations that has ever happened for these drag racing members.

On this, Chris Cortez, the Chrysler Group’s senior vice president for global service and parts, says, “The 392 HEMI engine revolutionized not only drag racing, but the entire automotive industry.”

Bob McAdoo, A Hall of Famer

February 3rd, 2009
Rick Grantham asked:

Basketball is becoming one of the favorite sports of people all throughout the globe. Unlike other sports, basketball is relatively easy to understand. The popularity of the sport led to the formation of the Basketball Hall of Fame. The honor is given to those who have made exceptional contribution to the sport.

One significant character who has been given such honor is Robert Allen McAdoo. His induction in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame happened in 2000.

Before he joined the NBA, McAdoo attended Vincennes Junior College and the University of North Carolina. He already played for the two schools back then. McAdoo led the Tar Heels in the National semifinals. However, they lost to the Florida State.

He qualified for the 1972 NBA draft. He started his career in the National Basketball Association in 1972 when the Buffalo Braves drafted him. He stayed with the team, now the Los Angeles Clippers, for five years until 1977. When he joined the league, he made his presence known by winning the Rookie of the Year award in 1973. He also won the Most Valuable Player award in 1975. He made the NBA All-Star five consecutive times from 1974 to 1978.

During his first few years, he became one of the best big men shooters in the league. In his second season in the NBA, he bagged three shooting titles. In the mid seventies, many basketball enthusiasts would name him as the fastest big man who ever played in the NBA.

However, there were also some down moments in his career. He was injured several times and fans and experts felt that he had only given a mediocre performance.

Many thought that his time has ended in the mid seventies. Many blame this to the other teams he joined. Most of the teams that welcomed him were not among the dominant teams at that time. He played for the New York Knicks after leaving the Braves in 1977. He played for the Boston Celtics in 1979. After that, he played for the Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets in 1980 and 1981 respectively.

However, it was not until he joined the LA Lakers that he tasted what it felt like to win NBA titles. He played for the Lakers from 1981 to 1985. Together with other great players, the team earned two NBA titles, one in 1982 and the other in 1985.

After great seasons with the Lakers, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers and played there for a year. From his first team, the Los Angeles Clippers, McAdoo played his last NBA season with the 76ers. However, he did not stop playing basketball.

He played for some European teams after the NBA. In 1990, he played for Olimpia Milano. He led the team in two European Championships. He retired after playing for Teamsystem Fabriano in 1993.

Although there were some point in his career where he felt defeated, McAdoo was able to prove his greatness over and over again. This and more, made him worthy to be part of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Hall Of Fame - Vienna City Hall

January 5th, 2009
Anil Gupta asked:

The ambitious program of architectural improvements to Vienna introduced by Emperor Franz Joseph I, including the Ringstraße, the Rathauspark (City Hall Park), and the Opera. Friedrich von Schmidt, who had been one of the architects working on Cologne Cathedral, designed and built the Vienna City Hall between 1872 and 1883. It is the most significant secular building in the neo-Gothic style in the city.

As Vienna is Austria’s federal capital as well as a federal province in its own right, it is the seat of the mayor and governor of Vienna - two posts held by the same person. The Provincial Assembly is composed of 100 members and elected for a term of five years.

The huge chandelier in the historicist style is the most striking feature of the 14-metre-high Council Chamber where the members of the Assembly convene. It has a diameter of five meters and 213 lights. It was cast in one piece, weighs 3,200 kg and can be entered by maintenance personnel to change the lamps. The coffered ceiling of high-grade larch and spruce wood is decorated with 22-carat gold-leaf rosettes. Directly below the ceiling, a series of frescoes depicts events from the history of Austria and Vienna. The section situated on the right hand of the central visitors’ gallery shows scenes from the 13th to 16th centuries; one can see Duke Rudolf IV laying the foundation-stone for the southern spire of St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the institution of Vienna University, the world’s oldest university where students are taught in the German language.

The left-hand side takes one into the 17th to 19th centuries. Empress Maria Theresa is surrounded by famous exponents of the politics, arts and sciences of her era. Most of the pointed-arch windows with stained lead glazing facing the gallery were reconstructed after the Second World War on the basis of the original plans. The back wall of the central visitors’ gallery depicts the tasks of Vienna’s municipal administration in symbolic form.

Another attractive feature is the Senate Chamber which serves as the meeting-room of the City Senate. This is one of the most impressive rooms of the City Hall. A special sight is the beautiful majolica fireplace - a present by the Guild of Stove and Fireplace Makers dating from 1885 - on the wall facing the entrance to the hall. The walls are covered with green silk damask. The ceiling featuring inlay work and gilt elements is intricately and richly decorated.

The Arkadenhof is one of the biggest inner courtyards in Europe having a surface of 2,804 square meters, and can be compared to the courtyard of the Doge’s Palace in Venice. A choir-type oriel along its western wall is a reminder of the original project to build a chapel in the City Hall. Lined by five-meter-wide, pointed-arch arcades, the courtyard offers a fascinating setting for a wide variety of events. A folding roof designed by the architect Silja Tillner is a new addition to protect visitors against wind and rain. It also houses the Municipal and State Libraries and Archives which hold many key documents of Vienna’s history and a large collection of local memorabilia.

A History of the Cricket Hall of Fame

December 26th, 2008
Cristi asked:

A non-profit organization aimed at the promotion and development of cricket in the United States, the Cricket Hall of Fame inducts both local and international athletes for both their contribution to the game and also to contribute to the community through charities.

In February 1981, the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club, located in Hartford, Connecticut, envisioned the launch of the first Cricket Hall of Fame in the world. After a number of failed attempts, the Cricket Hall of Fame became a reality through an in-house development from the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club.

In October 1981, the first annual Cricket Hall of Fame induction dinner was held at the Hartford Holiday Inn Hotel. The event was popular and possessed an air of festivity. The inaugural inductees were James Gabriel, John Law, Lloyd Walford, Alfred valentine, Lance Gibbs and Wesley Hall.

Through the years, the Cricket Hall of Fame has earned the respect of both players and fans. A decision to move the induction ceremony to New York resulted in a loss of interest, which ultimately led to complete inactivity of the Hall of Fame. After five years, a bold effort was launched by Linford Miller in 1997, which restructured the leadership and regained the respect that the Hall had once lost.

Since it’s revamping, the Cricket Hall of Fame is now a leader in aiding a number of deserving charities. Among them, a contribution of more than 400,000 surgical gloves for healthcare workers who were treating AIDS patients in Jamaica. In 2000, the Humanitarian awards ceremony raised funds for the Boys’ Town project and Boy Scouts movement in Jamaica, as well as a youth Hotline in Barbados, a Children’s Home in St. Lucia and Alvin Kallicharan Foundation in Guyana.

Today, the Cricket Hall of Fame is getting closer to realizing a longtime dream of becoming a museum. This is expected to significantly add to the many tourist attractions, which are already present in the city of Hartford. Thanks to the focused direction of new management, the Cricket Hall of Fame is now housed in more spacious quarters, but still in the same location, and is presently under further renovation.

Area individuals who are members of the cricketing community or athletics, who may have special or rare books, photographs, cricket memorabilia, artifacts, films or other collectibles of historic significance are asked to consider donating their items to the Cricket Hall of Fame. For additional information on the process of making donations or for questions regarding ticket purchases for upcoming induction ceremonies, individuals are urged to contact the Cricket Hall of Fame directly or stop by their headquarters at 3000 Main Street in Hartford, Connecticut.

Hartford’s Cricket Hall of Fame is a division of the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club. After years of continued support from both the community, athletes and cricket fans worldwide, the Hall of Fame continues to thrive and will offer fans the opportunity to view rare collectibles in person or attend an induction ceremony. If you are a cricket fan, the Cricket Hall of Fame is a must-see.

Video Streaming - A New Town Hall

December 23rd, 2008
Scott Lindsay asked:

It was a night in July 2007 when a new town hall was discovered. Men and women from around the United States participated in a debate of sorts between 2008 Presidential hopefuls on the Democratic ticket.

What made this event unique is not that the candidates took their message on the road, but that the candidates received questions via video streaming site YouTube. Multiplied thousands of Internet users tuned in for a town hall meeting that was available on a global basis. Viewers even used YouTube to pose their own questions to competing candidates.

While this forum made for some rather interesting video questions, the implications of the use of video streams are phenomenal. For the first time citizens from across the United States were invited to be a part of something that simply required the ability to stream video on the web, and the audience responded.

The CNN debate was sponsored by the video streaming giant YouTube. This approach to debate may have had some people thinking it was a cross between politics and a reality TV show and some would argue that’s what it ultimately became.

However, this debate also helped foster the notion that anyone’s voice can be heard from any point on the globe. The debate format was sometimes eccentric, sometimes anticlimactic, but interesting nonetheless and memorable for the milestone it passed in forging a new way to connect with the public.

This is not an article about politics. It is, however, a beacon pointing out another merit of video streaming.

Children’s television channels have been working to integrate video streaming into televised children’s games. The effects of this new paradigm are not lost on children who gravitate to the technology and appreciate the potential for their own brush with fame.

The presidential debates using video streams for questions should allow all who are involved in Internet-based business to consider video streaming in present and long-term marketing goals.

Many video streams on download locations like YouTube have in excess of a million downloads. Some statistics indicate many people are spending more time with their computers than they are television and other forms of media.

Television and movie companies are catering to the need with hi-resolution trailers and television show downloads - all using video streaming technology and all from the comfort and privacy of on demand personal computing.

If people are spending so much time online doesn’t it make sense to find a way to bring your business to a group of consumers who are already immersed in all things pop culture?

Pushing forward with video streaming as a marketing tool is not only cost effective, but can be used as either an entertaining infomercial or something as simple as a guided tour through your primary site. In either case, site visitors may be inclined to ride the video stream than to click endlessly through a new site in the hopes of finding something worthwhile.

Video streaming can help you discover new ways to reach customers - and there’s no debate about that.

Hello From Orlando- Part 20: The Walking Hall Of Fame Of The PGA Father Son Challenge At ChampionsGate

December 19th, 2008
Susanne Pacher asked:

After our exciting round at Mystic Dunes, it was only mid-afternoon on a gorgeous day with blue skies, so we decided to take a 10 minute drive and drop in on the Father Son Challenge at Champion’s Gate, which has been held for the last 3 years at this golf course in the South part of Orlando. You can’t miss Champion’s Gate, when you first get off exit 58 on the I-4, the impressive main entrance gates to Champion’s Gate are right there.

The Father Son Legend is truly a walking Hall of Fame of Golf, and it’s a celebration of the sport as well as of the bonds of family. Famous golf professionals of the present and the past play with their talented sons and daughters, and all of them share a passion for the game.

This year’s line-up included Jack and Jackie Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and his grandson Sam Saunders, Vijay Singh and 15 year old son Qass, Mark and Shaun O’Meara, Craig and Chris Stadler, Bob and David Charles, Raymond and Robert Floyd (Raymond has won the Father Son Challenge 5 times since 1994 together with his sons Robert and Raymond Jr.), Hale and Steve Irwin, Tom and David Kite, Bernard and 15 year old Stefan Langer, Davis Love III and his 12-year old son Dru, Johnny Miller and Johnny Miller II, Larry and Josh Nelson, Curtis and Tom Strange, Lee and Daniel Trevino, Fuzzy Zoeller and his daughter Gretchen.

We parked our car and approached the club house. Just as we were walking towards the stands on the 18th hole, Davis Love III had finished his round and was coming towards the club house. It is really an amazing experience, seeing all these world famous celebrities and icons of the sport, up so close and so relaxed in this unique tournament format.

The rules of playh are based on a Scramble Format, which means that on each hole, each player drives and the best drive is selected. Each player then plays a second shot from the spot where the selected drive lies, and the best second shot is selected. This process is completed uniti the hole is completed.

When we were there we also saw golf greats like Vijay Singh, Mark O’Meara and Lee Trevino finish their rounds. It was great seeing Vijay, relaxing after his final putt with a coffee in hand, awaiting the arrival of his son on the last hole and watching his son’s last putt of the day. Because this tournament pairs up the great players of golf with their sons or daughters, it really gives you a much better feeling of these professionals as human beings, and according to Allan Findley, General Manager of Champions Gate, many of these players truly relish this event, which allows them to celebrate their sport as a family away from the pressures of the PGA Tour.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere at the Father Son Challenge, and it would have been great to see some of the other legends of golf, like Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, in person. Unfortunately we have an extremely tight schedule and will be unable to come back on a second day, but it was a great experience, getting a first person look at this “Walking Hall of Fame” of the game of golf.

Hall of Fame Madness: Getting Reggie White Autographed Memorabilia

December 16th, 2008
Joseph Baylon asked:

What’s the fuss about Reggie White, and why do so many football enthusiasts rush after his autographed memorabilia? Born a few days before Christmas in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Reggie White played defensive tackle for a number of teams, such as the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles. He likewise won NFL awards in the process, and was for some time the consistent recipient of the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

This Minister of Defense, Reggie White scored and won as both an Evangelical Christian and a Pro-football player. One of the greatest leaders in sacks in all of NFL’s history, Reggie White actually began as a college football player, retired from the Green Bay Packers, and then returned to the NFL to play football all over again. He is ranked among the one hundred greatest football players of all time, making Reggie White memorabilia precious amongst football enthusiasts.

Are you a football fan willing to invest in autographed memorabilia, or fan memorabilia related to Reggie White? Here are a few things that you may want to collect and pray a pretty penny for, whether you seek to decorate your home with Reggie White-related goods, or sell them again at your own collector’s store or auction.

- For the earliest years of Reggie White the athlete, begin at the beginning and look for his University of Tennessee memorabilia. Reggie White still holds school records for the highest number of sacks in a player’s career, in one season, and in a single game. There are pictures of Reggie White available, as a student, and as a player with his team.

- After college, Reggie White joined the football league’s Memphis Showboats. This short stint of two seasons yielded but a few signed pictures, but autographed memorabilia from this era are quite precious, especially since the USFL was dismantled a few years later, leading to White’s move to the NFL.

- Because the Philadelphia Eagles held his NFL rights, Reggie White moved to the Eagles and played for a total of eight seasons with them. He went on to set sack records with the team, as well as to pick up awards for his various achievements with the Eagles. Many autographed pictures, cards, and even pigskins are available from this era of White’s career. There are also books about the Philadelphia Eagles that Reggie White signed, so look out for them at your collector’s shops.

- Reggie White’s stint with the Green Bay Packers lasted for about six seasons, and his propensity for winning football-related awards decreased. Autographed memorabilia from this time, however, are still very much available, especially since he was part of the winning Super Bowl team in the Super Bowl’s thirty-first year. You can find many team pictures, pigskins, and football cards with Reggie White’s signature.

- Although White retired in 1998, he returned the following year to the NFL to play for the Carolina Panthers. In his last playing season, White played below par, and thus retired. Most memorabilia from this season are easy to come by and relatively cheap, but they will one day be expensive due to the nature of the game at this point in White’s career.

- After Reggie White finally retired, he spent time at his church and even studied the Torah. He then began to make the rounds of television interviews and magazine coverage. If you want to get memorabilia of Reggie White the religious, then look for signed memorabilia from this time, which can include pictures and magazine articles of him.

Reggie White died the day after Christmas 2004. In the following season, the Green Bay Packers, University of Tennessee, and Philadelphia Eagles football teams retired the number 92 jersey that Reggie White wore as a player. In his lifetime, Reggie White had not only autographed photos, articles, and jerseys, he had also played a great game of football that many players would remember and emulate in years to come.
